Random Thoughts on my Violin…

April 7th, 2008 by sandra

- I love playing my violin.  Especially when I hit all the right notes.

- It’s fun learning new songs and being able to actually read music notes.

- My violin teacher, Gigi, is one of my greatest mentors.

- I know the choir ladies at church that sit behind me are bad mouthing me.  They say I’m too tall – and then some.  In Tagalog.

- My Italian violin is really cool.

- It’s scary playing violin in the front row.  Either alone or next to Gigi.

-When playing next to Gigi, I sometimes feel as though she’s looking at me and thinking, “What the heck!”

-When I lose my notes and can’t find my place in song, I’ll either wing it pretty good or hardly touch the bow to the strings so no one can hear my mess up.

-When you play violin for more than an hour, your fingers hurt. Your bow wrist will be sore – probably for a couple of days – yes, you’ll feel like your getting carpal tunnel syndrome. Your violin hand fingers will be indented with the form of the strings.  They will also be black from the metal strings and the oil from your fingers. Your back will have really good posture.  But your butt will be sore from sitting so long.  It’s the best.

- It’s weird when your playing violin and a person walks up to you and stares at you really close.  It’s actually really unnerving.
