Replacing a 2004 VW Beetle headlight

July 18th, 2007 by sandra

A day before yesterday, Ian advised me that my left headlight was out.  Waaaaaaaaaaaaaa!  When I had my silver eyelids put on my bug, the body shop and Mike also noticed that the right headlight was ’spongy’.  Meaning that you could kinda push it in and out a bit. Double waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Mike and Ian decided to attempt to fix the lights themselves.  At first we were’nt sure if it could be done, since German made cars really cram a lot under the small hoods.

I searched around and found an AWESOME blog site.  Cindy showed step by step instructions with tons of pix on how to change the bulb.  It worked perfectly!  Keep in mind, like most manuals, the car book said to take it to the dealer.  I am POSITIVE that this would have cost us at least $150!

So major thanks to Mike, Ian and Cindy!
